The Kee Klamp fitting is a malleable iron casting, except for
the size 2 fittings, which are aluminium. Based on simple engineering
principles and manufactured with strength requirements to BS6681
(I.S.O.5922), it is streamlined in shape to enhance the clean
lines of the tubing and has no rough damaging edges. Kee Klamp's
large range of fittings come in 8 sizes and include reducing
fittings designed to accept different size of tube. The comprehensive
range of fittings provides the versatility to achieve any shape
of structure. A simple hexagon key is the only tool required to
give a strong, rigid joint. The socket recess screw is the heart
of the Kee Klamp. Manufactured in zinc plated, case hardened steel,
it is coated with a corrosion inhibitor. If required, a Kee Klamp
can support an axial load of 900Kg with the set screw tightened
to a torque of 4Kg.M. This is normally obtained when the screw
is fully tightened using a ratchet wrench.
Kee Klamp fittings are made in a range of standard sizes to fit steel tubing to BS1387 (I.S.O.65) medium and heavy gauge from 13.5mm to 60.3mm outside diameter and equivalent sizes of tubing in other structural materials. Tubing to other specifications can be used providing the outside diameter and wall thickness are compatible with BS1387. Since there are various terminologies in common use to determine tube sizes, the following table is given to compare and relate them to the Kee Klamp fitting size reference.
